FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What does "signed and verified" mean?

Every Marketplace module goes through automated security analysis and human review by the Didacta team before publishing. Each package also carries a cryptographic signature that proves the code hasn't been tampered with since publication.

Do modules break Didacta upgrades?

No. Modules are built against the public core API, which maintains compatibility across versions. They update independently from the Didacta core.

Can I install modules on Didacta Community?

Yes. The Marketplace works on Community, Cloud and Enterprise with no differences. Installation is the same; the only requirement is admin access to your instance.

How are payments handled for paid modules?

Through Stripe Connect. When a user installs a paid module, the charge is processed by Stripe and split automatically: 90% goes to the module author and 10% to Didacta. No manual intermediaries, no surprise withholdings.

What revenue share do I get as a module author?

90% of every sale. The remaining 10% covers Marketplace operation, security review, package signing and Stripe fees. No setup fees, no long contracts.

Can I deactivate a module if I'm not happy with it?

Yes, anytime from your admin panel. Deactivation is immediate and reversible. If the module was a paid subscription, the unsubscribe is processed automatically.

What happens if a module stops being maintained?

When a module doesn't receive updates for an extended period or stops being compatible with the current core version, it gets flagged as "unmaintained" on the Marketplace and admins running it are notified. If the issue affects security, it's removed from the catalog.

Can modules access my learners' data?

Only the data the module declares permissions for in its manifest. Before installing you'll see exactly what it requests (read courses, write reports, access enrollments, etc.) and you can deny installation if you're not comfortable.

Can I build private modules just for my organization?

Yes. You can build private modules, distribute them internally and keep them off the public Marketplace. You only need to sign them with your own key for your instance to accept them.

How are modules updated when new versions are released?

Each module declares an update policy: automatic, with confirmation or manual. Security updates are always applied with priority. You can review the changelog of any module before updating.

Can I try a paid module before buying?

It depends on the author. Many modules offer a free trial or demo. The trial policy is clearly stated on each module's listing. Stripe Billing handles the trial-to-subscription transition automatically.

What license do Marketplace modules use?

Modules linked to the Didacta core can be distributed under any license compatible with the Sustainable Use License 1.0 — including paid proprietary licenses set by the author. This lets authors charge for modules without being forced to release the source, unlike GPL's restrictions.
